Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer played down a January transfer spending spree at Old Trafford.
United have been heavily linked to Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho, Leicester City playmaker James Maddison and Salzburg sensation Erling Haaland.
Mario Mandzukic has also emerged as an option up front following the departures of Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez.
But Solskjaer is not anticipating a big window in January, aside from a couple of possible loan deals.
It is not about x amount of money [we have to spend], it is about who do we think will be good for the club in the long-term, not just three or four months, Solskjaer said.
When asked if Solskjaer s targets could be available in January, the Norwegian replied: Probably not b…
Gennaro Gattuso hopes Gonzalo Higuain will be cleared of lasting damage after a back problem curtailed his involvement in AC Milan s last-gasp 1-0 away victory Udinese.
Alessio Romagnoli dispatched a dramatic 97th-minute winner at Dacia Arena in a repeat of the stoppage-time heroics that earned Milan a 2-1 win over Genoa in midweek.
The captain s composed finish amid a frantic finale made it three wins from three since the derby heartbreak against Inter, which remains fresh in Gattuso s mind ahead of next weekend s meeting Juventus.
Higuain is in doubt to face his parent club after a collision with Rolando Mondragora forced him off just 35 minutes into the hard-earned triumph against Udinese.
He felt a twinge in his back, Gattuso said of the striker. …
Rangers boss Steven Gerrard insists he is focused on his very big job with the Scottish champions and will not spend time thinking about links to Newcastle United.
Liverpool icon Gerrard has been tipped as one of the likely contenders to replace under-pressure Steve Bruce at St James Park after the Premier League club s takeover.
Saudi Arabia s Public Investment Fund (PIF) have taken an 80 per cent stake, ending Mike Ashley s 14-year ownership, while Amanda Staveley s PCP Capital Partners and the Reuben brothers RB Sports Media each took on 10 per cent.
Huge investment and a change at the top is expected, but Bruce remains in post for Sunday s home match against Tottenham, which will be his 1,000th as a manager.
Gerrard discussed his own relationship wi…
While both north London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham might be enjoying their own record-breaking starts to the 2022/23 campaign, some other clubs have really failed to fire themselves out of the traps.

Port Vale s Tom Pope had the FA Cup impact he promised before holders Manchester City ran out 4-1 winners at the Etihad Stadium.
Pope, whose disparaging Twitter post about City defender John Stones came to light following the third-round draw, nodded in a superb 35th-minute equaliser after Oleksandr Zinchenko s deflected opener.
However, Sergio Aguero ensured the hosts went in ahead at half-time before youngsters Taylor Harwood-Bellis – inadvertently scoring his first senior goal after Stones thought he had City s third – and Phil Foden sealed the Premier League champions progress.
Nathan Smith scrambled an eighth-minute effort from Foden out of the goalmouth but fellow Vale centre-back Leon Legge was not so effective with his own last-ditch attempt – tur…

The Jamaicans advanced all the way to the final two years ago but were outclassed 3-1 by Mexico in the decider.
